Prune Creek

Prune Creek Campground has river frontage with Prune Creek entering the campground from the east and joining the South Fork of the Tongue River on the south and west of the campground. This family-friendly campground is level, shaded with evergreens, and offers newly renovated roads, spurs, and tables with vault toilets. There is great trout fishing within the camp and at nearby Sibley Lakewhich has accessible fishing dock and non-motorized boat use. Moose frequent the campground with other abundant wildlife viewing.

THINGS TO KNOW

Getting Here:

Highway 14A, from Lovell, is extremely steep, a 10-percent grade and more, is winding, has several hairpin turns, and many blind corners. This is a challenging road during the summer season.

Weather:
You are at high elevations here in the Bighorn Mountains. Remember to bring warming clothing for evenings as it can become chilly.
Don't Move Firewood: 
Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood near your destination and burning it on-site.

Extra Car Fee: $10.00
Two non-towed vehicles may be parked per site. The first vehicle is included in the basic fee; the second vehicle is charged an extra fee collected at the campground.
Firewood: $6.00/bundle
Firewood bundles can be purchased from the campground host.

CLIMATE

TEMPERATURES
Spring temperatures range from 60°-70° F for the highs and 30°-45° F for the lows. Summer highs are in the 70°-80° F range with the lows reaching into the 40° F range.
RAINFALL
Most rain comes in May and June but come prepared for showers as they can happen all summer long.
SNOWFALL
Snow should be out of the mountains by early to mid May and shouldn't come around again until late September.
