We have host positions in a variety of circumstances and with a variety of remunerations depending upon the number of sites and degree of use at each host position. Most positions begin between mid-May and mid-June and end mid-September.

Northern Bighorns, Wyoming

Along Highways 14 and 14A

Northeastern Bighorn Mountain Manager, Owen Creek – Mountain Manager resides at Owen Campground, elevation 8400 feet, 32 miles from Dayton, WY, to care for seven sites.  On the banks of Owen Creek this campground has fishing, with hiking and ATV trails nearby. Hosts must have RV or camper, duties include light maintenance, compliance checking, bookkeeping, and cleaning.

This position oversees 7 campgrounds and 5 other hosts. Mountain Manager duties include trouble shooting for all campgrounds, planning and completing special maintenance projects as needed, distributing supplies, collecting trash, sanitizing water wells and testing for EPA compliance and depositing receipts from all campgrounds into a bank in Sheridan. The manager will fill in for hosts or unfilled positions. Remunerations: include site for RV with electrical hookup and $1800.00/mo.; total package worth approximately $2,420./month; a mileage allowance is paid semi-monthly and a bonus of up to $150/month for utilities is paid for successful completion of the contract. Position is mid-May until mid-September.

 

Northwestern Bighorn Mountain Manager, North Tongue – The Mountain Manager resides at North Tongue Campground elevation 7900 feet, and hauls garbage to the landfill from all the campgrounds one time per week. The campground has 12 sites, host duties include light maintenance, compliance checking, bookkeeping, and cleaning. North Tongue Campground is located close to excellent fishing streams, and numerous scenic drives or hiking trails are close by. The campground is one mile from Burgess Junction and two miles from the Burgess Dump Station although black and gray water can be dumped in the nearby outhouse through a connecting hose or using a Blue Boy. This position also includes managing three other host and the oversight of 6 other campgrounds along Highways 14 and 14A.  Mountain Manager duties include trouble shooting for all campgrounds, planning and completing special maintenance projects as needed, distributing supplies, collecting trash from the western side and hauling to a landfill once or twice a week (GCC provides a dump trailer), sanitizing water wells and testing for EPA compliance, and depositing receipts from all campgrounds into a bank in Sheridan or Greybull. Manager will fill in for hosts or unfilled positions.  Remunerations: include site for RV with electrical hookup and $1,800.00/mo.; total package worth approximately $2,420/month; a mileage allowance is paid semi-monthly; and a bonus of up to $150/month for utilities is paid for the successful completion of the contract. Hosts must have RV or camper.  The position starts mid-May and ends in late September.


Bighorn Maintenance Helper Position -  Job entails landscaping and maintenance type activities in various campgrounds within a district. It will include operating equipment such as lawn mowers and weed eaters, various yard work, driving truck and trailer, painting, logging (medium to small dead trees), small construction projects (docks, roofing, tables), fencing, laying water line, some record keeping and office help, trailer/equipment repairs and any other job related to the care and improvement of the camps and corporate facilities. Each work week will have unique hours; sometimes work will be required on weekends. Overtime pay starts at the 51st hour for the week. Weekends are usually off. The job begins June 1 and ends in mid-September. Job training for these various activities includes reading safety manual, working with principals, directed active work and evaluations.

 

East Fork Recreation Area and Ranger Creek Campground - Elevation is 7600 feet and can be accessed via Red Grade Road out of Sheridan, WY (15 miles) or from the less steep west end of FSR 26. Hosts must have RV or camper and a separate vehicle to check East Fork Campground.  Host must haul garbage in a trailer provided by GCC once a week. Other duties include light maintenance, compliance checking, bookkeeping, and cleaning. Host cares for 23 camp sites. Remunerations include site for RV and $900/month and a mileage allowance is paid semi-monthly; total package worth is $1,520/ month. The host site has no electricity or water hookups but a solar trailer is provided. There is a sewer hookup at the site and a bonus of up to $150/month for utilities (propane and generator gas) is paid for successful completion of the contract. This area has abundant wildlife, fishing on the East Fork of Big Goose Creek and at Park Reservoir, hiking, and ATV trails. The job begins approximately early June and ends after Labor Day.

 

Prune Creek - The host at Prune Creek assists in caring for Prune Creek (21 sites) and Pine Island Group Area, elevation is 7700 feet, 26 miles SW of Dayton, WY. Duties include light maintenance, compliance checking, bookkeeping, and cleaning. Hosts must have RV or camper. Remunerations include site for RV (limited to 28’) with electric and sewer hookups and $1000.00/mo.; total package worth approximately $1,710/month; a mileage allowance is paid biweekly and a bonus of up to $150/month for utilities for successful completion of the contract.  This campground is on the banks of the South Tongue River and Prune Creek, with fishing, hiking & ATV trails nearby. This position begins early June and goes through mid-September.

Bald Mountain and Porcupine - Host resides at Porcupine Campground, 9200 feet elevation, located above Lovell 33 miles on Hwy 14A and cares for Porcupine and Bald Mountain campgrounds on a daily basis. Host must haul out garbage in a trailer provided by GCC once a week. Host cares for 31 sites duties include light maintenance, compliance checking, bookkeeping, and cleaning. Hosts must have RV or camper and a separate vehicle to run between the camps. Remunerations include site for RV with sewer hookup only and $1000.00/mo.; total package worth approximately $1518.50/month; a mileage allowance is paid biweekly and a bonus of up to $150/month for utilities (propane & generator gas) is paid for successful completion of the contract. This area is close to the historic Medicine Wheel and numerous hiking trails, scenic drives, the old mining ghost town of Bald Mountain City and Devil’s Canyon and Sheep Mountain. The job begins approximately mid-June and ends after Labor Day.

Southern Bighorns, Wyoming

Southwestern Bighorn Area

Southwest Bighorn Mountain Manager - Mountain Manager resides at Boulder Park elevation 8000 feet. Mountain Manager duties include trouble shooting for eight campgrounds along U.S. Hwy 16 in the Bighorn National Forest, oversite of 5 hosts, planning and completing special maintenance in any of the campgrounds, depositing receipts from all hosts in a bank at Buffalo, sanitizing water wells and testing for EPA compliance and hauling garbage to Ten Sleep, directs the other hosts in this area, filling in for hosts or unfilled positions, also purchasing and delivering supplies to all hosts. Remunerations include site for RV with electric and sewer hookups and $1800.00/mo.; total package worth approximately $2,080/month; a mileage allowance is paid semi-monthly; and a bonus of up to $150/month for utilities (propane) is paid for successful completion of the contract. Manager must have RV or camper and a separate vehicle to use between campgrounds. Position is mid-May until mid-September.

Circle Park –  Host resides at Circle Park (10 sites) and cares for Hettinger Group Area, also helps with Tie Hack campground.  Main duties are cleaning, compliance checking, bookkeeping & light maintenance.  This position also picks up supplies, reservation notices and deposits camp receipts; and generally, acts as an assistant to the Mountain Manager for the east side of the mountain. Host must have RV or camper and a separate vehicle to use between campgrounds. Remunerations include site for RV with no hookups plus $900/month; total package worth approximately $1,388/month. A mileage allowance is paid semi-monthly and a bonus of up to $150/month for utilities (propane and generator gas) is paid for successful completion of the contract. This campground is located 16 miles west of Buffalo, Wyoming on Hwy 16. Circle Park Trailhead is convenient; hiking trails, horse trails, and scenic drives are close by. The job begins June1st and ends after Labor Day.

Lakeview Host Position - Host resides at Lakeview, elevation 8300 feet, and cares for Lakeview Campground. Lakeview Creek is twenty-eight miles east of Ten Sleep, Wyoming. Lakeview has 20 sites and the Willow Park Group Area to care for. Duties include light maintenance, compliance checking, book keeping, and cleaning. Remunerations include site for RV with sewer and water hookups (no electricity) and $950.00/mo.; total package worth approximately $1,500/month. A mileage allowance is paid semi-monthly; and a bonus of up to $150/month for utilities (propane and generator gas) is added for successful completion of the contract. Lakeview is located above the Meadowlark Lake and near the newly renovated Meadowlark Lodge and has hiking, fishing, and rock climbing nearby. Hosts must have RV or camper and a separate vehicle to use between campgrounds. The job begins in early June and runs through Labor Day.

Lost Cabin and Doyle Creek - Host resides at Lost Cabin, elevation 8200 feet, 23 miles west of Buffalo, WY and cares for Lost Cabin and Doyle Creek Campgrounds. Host cares for 38 sites total and must have a RV or camper.  This position also collects and hauls garbage to the Buffalo landfill from the east side campgrounds once or twice a week.  Remunerations include site for RV with sewer hookup and a solar trailer for electricity but no water (the mountain manager does deliver water) and $950.00/mo.; total package worth approximately $1,468.50/month. A mileage allowance is paid semi-monthly and a bonus of up to $150 a month for utilities (propane and generator gas) is paid for successful completion of the contract. The area has many streams and two reservoirs and many wilderness lakes for some tremendous fishing opportunities. ATV trails are nearby on National Forest Land or many trails beckon in the Cloud Peak Wilderness. South Fork Lodge is less than 10 miles and the dump station at Powder River Pass 12 miles. The job begins early June and ends after Labor Day.

Sitting Bull - Host resides at Sitting Bull, elevation 8600 feet, 51 miles from Worland, WY and cares for 42 sites. Main duties are cleaning, compliance checking, bookkeeping & light maintenance.  Hosts must have RV or camper and a separate vehicle to use between campgrounds.  Remunerations include site for RV with full hookups and $1,100.00/mo.; total package worth approximately $1,649/month; a mileage allowance is paid semi-monthly; and a bonus of up to $150/month for utilities (propane) is paid for successful completion of the contract. Campground is near Meadowlark Lake with scenic hiking, fishing, and ATV trails available. Meadowlark Lodge, Deer Haven Lodge, and Dump Station at Powder River Pass are located 10 miles or less. Job begins late May and ends mid-September.

Townsend, Montana

Goose Bay Marina - Along Hwy 284

The 65-acre campground is located on the east shore of Canyon Ferry Reservoir in Broadwater County, MT approximately 24 miles northeast of Townsend, MT and 20 miles southeast of Helena. The area is best known for its boating, fishing, hunting, camping and wildlife viewing opportunities on the nearby water bodies and public lands. The Goose Bay Campground has 93 sites, 2 fee-based shower facilities with flush toilets, 7 double vault toilets, and 3 single vault toilets. Also 2 large group pavilions, 3 group camping shelters, 8 day-use shelters, and a picnic area. There is a store, a potable water fill station, 2 RV dump stations, a water treatment building, an onshore gas dispenser, a rental shack, and a maintenance building. The Marina has a 63-slip dock, elevated gangways & floating platforms for access to docks, and a boat storage area. 

 

 

Host/Store Personnel Positions:  Couples are preferred and are individually hired at $1300/mo each. The Host cares for approximately 30 sites; shares care of cleaning the shower buildings, the vault toilets, the group shelters, day shelters, picnic area, and marina with other hosts. The main duties include light maintenance, compliance checking, bookkeeping, helping customers and cleaning. The host position also helps in the store occasionally as needed.


The Store Personnel work in the store set days each week for about 30-32 hours a week, strong computer skills are needed. The main duties are helping customers, using Point of Sale software to record sales, The CampLife program for reservations, general restocking, inventory control, bookkeeping, and cleaning. Work hours per week include some on-call time. The Store personnel also hosts as needed.


Host must have RV or camper and a separate vehicle. Couple’s remuneration includes a site for RV with full hookups value approximately $900 a month. The host position receives $1,300.00/mo. and the store position receives $1,300/mo., both positions are reimbursed for miles driven doing Goose Bay business.  An ATV or bicycle is recommended to make trips around the campground but not required.

Townsend, Montana

The Silos Marina & Campground - Along Hwy 287

The 125-acre campground is located on the west shore of Canyon Ferry Reservoir in Broadwater County, MT approximately 5 miles north of Townsend, MT and 25 miles southeast of Helena. The area is best known for its boating, fishing, hunting, camping, and wildlife viewing opportunities on the nearby water bodies and public lands. The Silos Marina & Campground has 86 campsites, 2 double vault toilets, 9 single vault toilets and 4 large group pavilions. There is potable at two pump houses via frost free hydrants. The Silos Marina has a 78-slip dock, elevated gangways & floating platforms for access to docks, and two courtesy unloading/loading docks with a 10-slip courtesy parking dock. 

 

 

Host Positions: Each host cares for approximately 1/3 of the sites/slips; shares care of cleaning the vault toilets, the group shelters, day shelters (Pavilions), parking area, and marina with other hosts. The main duties include light maintenance, compliance checking, bookkeeping, helping customers and cleaning. The host position also helps check boat launch check in as needed. Hosts work an average of 30-35 hours per week with 2 days off per week.


Host must have RV or camper and a separate vehicle. Couple’s remuneration includes a site for RV with electric & water hookups value approximately $600 a month. The host position receives $1,000.00/mo. and reimbursement for miles driven doing the Silos business.  

 

Host Position #1: Cares for 78 boat slips, 10 campsites in Falcon Loop, two single and one double-sided outhouse and collects payment from customers for the boat launch. The host site has electricity and a blackwater holding tank. A 60-gallon water tank is available to refill host’s water weekly.

 

Host Position #2: Cares for Golden Eagle and Osprey Loops (25 campsites), 2 single outhouses and one double outhouse, one Pavilion and two boat ramps, and assists with staffing the parking area and main boat launch. The host site has full hookups.

 

Host Position #3: Cares for Hawk and Peregrine Loops (50 campsites), 4 single outhouses and one double outhouse, 3 Pavilions and one boat ramp. The host site has full hookups.
